1. Which headline is best?

Is it the one that stresses a problem as in, “Do You Make These Mistakes in English?” or, one that offers a solution as in, “How to Win Friends and Influence People!”?

The answer is to run an inexpensive test using both of these headlines!

2. When you use the words “How to” in your headline, you are using two of the most powerful words you can use

to get attention.

7. Don’t put the name of your company or contact information at the top of your letter. It’s best to put it at the end.

8. Watch Your “I’s,” “you’s” and “me’s.” So far, the word “you” or “yours” have been mentioned thirteen times, whereas, “I,” “me” or “my”

have not been mentioned at all!

9. Prospective customers don’t care what you want. Their main concern is what they want. Here’s another hot tip:

10. Features Smell! Benefits SELL!

Prospects couldn’t care less about the wonderful features of your product.

11. Prospects will be interested in knowing how they could benefit from your product or service.

12. Turn the features of your product

into benefits for the customer!

13. Phrases that encourage the prospect to read on include:

“For these three reasons:”

“Here’s why:”

“Here’s another hot tip:”

14. Cut paragraphs to no more than four lines if possible.

15. Making some words bold as in “make your main headline as bold as possible” and “Insert subheads,” turns them into powerful hypnotic commands!

People Buy for Emotional Reasons

16. People buy for emotional reasons, not for logical reasons. The emotional involvement is what moves them to buy.

Then they use logic to justify their decision.

Tell Them How They Will Benefit

17. The prospect might not feel the need for the product, but they will become emotionally involved when they picture themselves using the product or service and benefiting from it.

For example, I have a couple of 18ct gold wrist watches. I don’t need two expensive watches, but the second watch looked dressier.

The moment I pictured myself wearing it, I had already sold it to myself.

Afterwards, when someone said,

“Do you need two watches,” I said:

“No. But I think famous-name watches in solid gold can only go up in value.”

Push the Prospect’s Hot Button

18. To make the sale, your sales copy has to push the prospect’s emotional hot button and push it hard.

19. Sales copy that is embedded with subliminal commands induces action.

“The moment you use this amazing Super-duper gismo, you will feel thrilled and delighted.”

“All your friends and family will be amazed. You will look at least ten years younger. Your clothes will fit. You will look so much slimmer.”

Use the AIDA Formula

20. Attention. Since the soul of the advertisement is promise, large promise; your copy must have a big, bold, benefit-loaded headline.

Interest. Your copy has to arouse interest by mentioning the prospect’s problem.

Desire. Your copy has to arouse desire by stressing the effectiveness of your solution.

Action. Your copy has to give the prospect a reason why he or she should act now!

You Must Tell the Prospect What to Do

21. Be sure you leave no doubt in the mind of the prospect about what you want then to do.

22. Ask for the order two or three times.

23. Go over the prospects’ problems and explain why your product or service is the best possible solution.

24. Include any testimonials you may have. Remove any lingering doubt by adding a true story like:

”Bill Smart, the CEO of Smart World Enterprises had similar problems, but after using our amazing widget, he found…”

25. Include any other testimonials you may have. Include their full name and the name of their company and URL, rather than just B.Smart. Ohio.

26. Summarize the major benefits again and give the prospect one or more very good reasons to buy now:

•The limited supply

•The early bird discount

•The prompt action bonuses

•The one-time special offer

•The pending price increase

Stress the Instant Gratification

27. If your sales letter is a web page, be sure to help the prospect picture himself or herself getting instant gratification.

28. Use the strongest possible close:

“Get the Solution to Your Problem NOW!

Click the ‘YES. Give it to me Now’ button and

in less than five minutes you can be using this amazing gismo to…”

29. “Order Form” is psychologically intimidating. Don’t call it an “Order Form.” Refer to it as a “Risk-Free Trial.”

30. Stress the 30-day, or however long, 100% Money-back Guarantee.

31. Tests show that you will get a better response when you ask the prospect to tick a box that says “Yes.”

o“YES! I Want it Now!”

“YES! Please supply…Quantity…Price…

I wish to pay by…Name on Credit Card. Account Number…Code…Expiring…Name on

Card…” 32. After you complete the first draft

of your sales letter, put it away

until the next day.

33. Write tight. Cut out every “that” word or any other “wishy-washy” words that might slow down the action.

Proof, Reproof and Proof Again

34. Reread for mistakes. Read it a second time. Then have someone else proof it.

Use the K-I-S-S Principle

35. Remember to “Keep-It-Simple-Salesman.” Write so most seventh graders will understand. Use five cent words instead of dollar words.

36. Don’t try to write like an English teacher. Write the way you speak.

37. Be warm. Be friendly. Use picturesque phrases like”slow as a snail,” “like a hole in a bucket,” “quick as flash,” “like owning your own Bank,” “like a money-making magnet.”

What is web hosting? Whenever you visit a website, what you see on your web browser is essentially just a web page that is downloaded from the web server onto your web browser. In general, a web site is made up of many web pages. And a web page is basically composed of texts and graphic images. All these web pages need to be stored on the web servers so that online users can visit your website.

Therefore, if you plan to own a new website, you will need to host your website on a web server. When your website goes live on the web server, online users can then browse your website on the Internet. Company that provides the web servers to host your website is called web hosting providers.

A well-established web hosting provider sometimes hosts up to thousands of websites. For example, the ‘Best Web Host of the Year 2003’ award winner, iPowerWeb, is a web hosting company that hosts more than 200,000 websites. For that reason, a web hosting company need many web servers (essentially, these are computers) to ‘store’ the website. And all these web servers are connected to the Internet through high speed Internet connection and housed in a physical building called ‘data center’. In order to guarantee all the web servers are safe, secure and fully operational all time, a data center is a physically secure 24/7 environment with fire protection, HVAC temperature control, virus detections, computer data backup, redundant power backup and complete disaster recovery capabilities.

What are the different types of web hosting? There are different kinds of web hosting companies out there with different characteristics. The main types of web hosts can be organized into the following categories:

a. Shared Hosting

In shared hosting (also known as virtual web hosting), many websites are sharing the space on the same physical web servers. Depending on the web host, a physical web server can hosts a few hundred to even thousand of different websites at one time. You may wonder if a physical web server is shared by so many websites, will the performance of the web server deteriorate? In fact, web servers are usually equipped with high-end powerful computer, therefore it can support up to a certain number of websites without any problem. But when the web server is overloaded and exceeded the reasonable number of websites that it can support, then you will begin to experience a slower response from the web server.

However, a reputable and experience web hosting provider will constantly monitor the performance of the web server and will add new web servers when deem necessary without sacrificing the benefits of the website owners. Since a physical web server is shared (diskspace, computer processing power, bandwidth, memory) by many websites, the web hosting provider can therefore afford to offer a lower hosting price. For the same reason, websites on the shared hosting would have to accept slower server response time. Typically, shared hosting plans start at $5 - $20 per month.

b. Dedicated Hosting

In contrast to shared hosting, dedicated hosting assigned a specific web server to be used only by one customer. Since a dedicated web server is allocated to only a single customer, the customer has the option to host single/multiple web sites, modify the software configuration, handle greater site traffic and scale the bandwidth as necessary. Therefore, dedicated hosting commands a higher premium and typically starts at $50 per month and can range up to $200 - $500 per month. As a result, dedicated hosting is regularly used by high traffic and extremely important website.

c. Co-location hosting

In dedicated hosting, the web server belongs to the web hosting providers and customers only rent the web server during the hosting period. While in co-location hosting, the customer owns the web server hardware and only housed their web server within the web hosting provider’s secure data center. In this way, the customer has full control over their web server and simultaneously benefit from the 24/7 server monitoring and maintenance provided by the secure data center. Depending on the monthly bandwidth and rack space required, typically co-location hosting range from $500 - $1000 per month.

d. Reseller hosting

In reseller hosting, a web hosting provider offers web server storage to third-party (i.e. reseller) at a discount price, who then resell the web server storage to their customers. Typically, resellers are web consultants including web designers, web developers, or system integration company who resell the web hosting as a add-on service to complement their other range of services. Commonly, resellers can receive up to 50 percent discount on the price of a hosting account from the web hosting provider. And resellers are allowed to decide its own pricing structure and even establish its own branding (in other words, reseller setup its web hosting company on the Internet and start selling web hosting plans under its brand).

To the reseller’s customers, the reseller is the web host provider. In cases when technical problems such as server down and access problem arise, the resellers will have to correspond directly with the actual web host provider. Due to the communication process taken place between customer to reseller and from reseller to actual web host provider and back and forth, undoubtedly problems will take longer time to resolve. Unless you are running your own personal website or non-profit website and willing to take the risks of poor support from the reseller, reseller hosting is generally not a good option.

However, the web hosting market today is filled with resellers that sell lowest price web hosting plans. So, how do you tell between a genuine web hosting provider from a reseller? You don’t judge by the availability of toll-free number alone because some web hosting providers even offer their resellers with their own toll-free number for co-branded technical support. When the reseller’s customer calls the number for technical support, the web host uses the reseller’s name so the customer thinks that the support is coming from the reseller directly. Likewise, don’t be fooled by the professional designed website alone because it is extremely easy to create a professional looked business website nowadays.

In general, resellers can be distinguished from their hosting price and company information. In most cases, a genuine web hosting provider has solid company information such as iPowerWeb.com where they publish its financial background, offices and data centers. In contrast, resellers usually do not have solid company background (here is just an example out of thousands out there). Moreover, the hosting price by resellers is generally below $5 per month. So, why settle for resellers when you can find genuine web hosting providers offering superb quality web hosting at the hosting price ranging between $7 - $10.

Therefore, you should not strive to find the lowest price web hosting companies without first considering the quality of the service and support provided. Don’t expect to find any top-level support if you choose to pay only $2 or $3 per months for your web hosting plan. On the other hand, by paying just slightly more for your hosting plan, you can now discover a list of low cost yet high quality web hosting plans to host your important website. To be successful in the search engines it's important to design your web site with the spiders in mind. Using the latest in web page design is not generally the best way to go. Spiders don't view web pages like humans do, they must read the HTML in the page to see what it's about. Below you will find tips on how to best design your web site with search engines in mind.

Do not use frames at all. Some search engines cannot spider web pages with frames at all. For the other search engines that can, they can have problems spidering it and sometimes they too can't index the web page. Do not only use image's to link out. You should always use text links to link out to important content on your web site. Spiders can follow image links, but like text links more though.

Use external JavaScript files instead of using Java Script code in the HTML document, using Java Script in the HTML document will make the page size much larger. Using an external Java Script file to do the job will reduce page size and make it easier for both spiders and browsers to download the page. Using Cascading Style Sheets can reduce page size and making the download time much faster in most cases. It will allow the spider to index your web page faster and can help your ranking.

Avoid using web page creators such as FrontPage, Dreamweaver or a WYSIWYG editor. Software such as that will often times add scripting code that is not needed, making the page larger than it needed to be and making it harder to crawl. It will also add code that can't be read by the search engines, causing the spider not to index the page or not index the whole web page. It is better to use standard HTML. Adding code that they can't read or have a hard time to read can lead to major problems with your ranking.

Try not to use Flash when possible. Flash cannot be read by the search engines to date and will cause download time to slow a bit. If you do decide to use Flash anyway, make sure you add text to the web page, so the search engines have something to read and find out what your web page is about. It will also allow your visitors to have something to read while the Flash file loads. Also don't use Flash as a way of navigation, as I said before spiders cannot read Flash.

It's important to add a site map to your web site. Not only will this make it easier for internet surfers to get around your web site, but it will also allow spiders to find your site's content easier and index your web page sooner. The site map should contain text links and not image links.

I highly suggest that you look at your web page with a Lynx browser because this is similar to how search engines will view your web page. There are other tools on the internet that will allow you to view your web page without a Lynx browser, but see a web page just like it, so you may want to check those out as well.

Searching for the right information on a web page can be a very frustrating experience. Have you ever encountered web pages that are so cluttered with information and graphics, that you leave, totally exasperated?

Start With a Simple Plan – to design a good web site you must start with a good plan. Create a list of all the information and graphics you want to include on the site. Factors That Effect Web Page Layout. 1. Screen Resolution – Most Internet users these days use a 15-17 inch monitor. Therefore, use a screen resolution of 800x600 pixels when designing your web page. Some still use 13-inch monitors and many have large monitors over 17 inches.

The way around this is to use percentages when designing your web page. The web page will then resize to the particular resolution the visitor is using. For the designer, this takes more work than using a fixed width for your pages. If you want to design your pages with a fixed length, then it's best to use a resolution of 800x600 pixels.

2. Contrast – strike a good balance between graphics and text. It is easy to have too much text on your site (unless it is a book or an article). Visitors usually scan web pages so make sure you use short sentences, small paragraphs and it contains small headings (see: www.isitebuild.com/copy.htm).

Too many graphics on your web page may create too much clutter. It also slows the loading time of your site. Only use graphics to emphasize the points you are trying to make. Remember, a graphic can also distract people from the message you are trying to convey.

3. Color – Have you ever gone to a site where there is a dark background and dark text? You can hardly read it. Try to stick to a light background with dark colored text. For example, a white background with black text is still the easiest to read. Beware of using a dark textured background. The text will become unreadable. The color should not distract your reader from the main points of your site.

4. White Space – this is the space between the elements on a web page. If there is none or too little white space, your web page will appear disorganized. Try to make the page look clean, simple, easy to read and navigate.

5. Navigation – the key to good navigation of your site, is for your visitor to find the information quickly and easily. It must be clear and simple. If the presentation and organization of the content is vague, the visitor will get lost, frustrated and move on to another site.

The home page is usually the web page that contains all the initial navigation to your web site. However, planning your homepage is only a small fraction of your job when designing your navigation. The deeper you can plan your site's structure and navigation, the more successful your site's navigation will be.

With clear, clean, simple and attractive layout of your web pages, information is easily retrievable. Your visitor will have an enjoyable experience and wish to return.
